Adrian and Janae married in May 2014. They moved to Portland, Oregon, to begin their church-planting journey in July 2015 and welcomed their daughter Lydia (a rare native Portlander!) a month later. They spend each day connecting with and serving people in an area where the majority consider themselves “spiritual” but are largely uninterested in God. Jesus loves people extravagantly and Inner Northeast Portland is embracing The Refuge’s example of that love. 

Adrian was born in Missouri and adopted into a pastor’s family as an infant. Soon the family moved to Oklahoma City where he came to Christ at age seven. He was called to ministry at Falls Creek Baptist Assembly while in high school. Adrian graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, with a Bachelor of Arts in applied ministry and a minor in recreation. He has a great love of sports and is a guitarist and songwriter. He likes to spend his free time roasting his own coffee. 

Janae is a Tulsa native. She graduated from the University of Tulsa with a Bachelor of Arts in German and photography. Janae came to Christ at Shepherd’s Fold Ranch in middle school and has been heavily involved in ministry. She is a professional photographer and teacher, having taught art, photography, and German. She lived and worked in Germany for over two years. She is a personal stylist for a custom men’s clothing line. She loves running, art, and singing. 

Lydia, now three years old, is a dynamic little wonder who is excited about everything in life. She recently started preschool and is learning so quickly. God is healing this sweet girl everyday and we can't wait to see what he has in store for her future.
